Phillies hope to change luck in Miami - new Philly Sports Talk Now! show Sunday night

The Phillies have been on a bad streak lately. The team hasn't shown that mighty play that led them to win the World Series last year all that much so far. The starting pitching has been nothing short of bad for lack of a better adjective. The keys to why the team has played like this are a lack of offense sometimes when the pitching is doing well, and bad pitching other times when the offense is producing. This is an over simplification of what's going wrong but it still sums it up pretty well. Another thing could be that the team with the few changes that it has made to start playing with one another in better sync. Chemistry plays a lot in a winning team and right now the chemistry isn't all what maybe it could be.

It's a good thing it's still April still no time to panic, although the losses in April could end up costing you plenty come September when the playoff races start to heat up. Right now the only good thing for the Phillies is that the Mets seem to be losing just as much so for now that's a good thing.

Honoring HK the old fashioned way

This morning I drove past Citizens Bank Park on the way to the Philly International Airport and on my way vacation out to Las Vegas. I wanted so much to stop and pay my respects to a man that I didn't know personally but over the years grew fond of his 'on air' personality. A broadcaster who I listened to since I was a kid. He was there broadcasting the games when the Phillies were horrible and when they went to the playoffs and World Series.

I was listening to KYW news radio 1060 am from the time I left my home in South Jersey till the time I arrived at the airport. The descriptions of a line wrapping around the stadium just to get into Citizen's Bank Park were moving. There was an interview with a guy who was second in line to get into the park to see Harry. The guy arrived at the park around midnight and his 8 hour wait was just about over to get in. Thousands of people will go to the park today, maybe 100,000 or more. It just seems like that kind of day, beautiful without a cloud in the sky.

On KYW news radio, they said there have been only 3 such viewings at ballparks like today's. Babe Ruth, Jack Buck, and now Harry Kalas are being honored by the fans. Yes this is old fashioned in this day and age. Computers, cell phones, twitters, and blogs cannot relay the real story that is going on down there at the park today. This is a by-gone tradition of visiting someone in person, and caring enough to do it. If my wife and I weren't going on our vacation that has been planned for so long, we would have been there too. God bless you Harry, and family, thanks for letting us say goodbye to a guy we loved.

Harry Kalas Memorial set for Saturday

HK is the lovable name that a lot of people who worked with Harry called him. We at home that watched the Phillies over many years call him a legend. The tribute to the 'Voice of the Phillies' Harry Kalas will be held Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.

Here is a link to a clip from WHYY TV in Philadelphia who aired a rebroadcast of "Hometown Legends" featuring Harry Kalas last night in memorial to Harry here is a link with a clip from the show about Harry and him being called, "A legend."

Phillies go cold again at Citizens Bank Park, they wait for 'The Ring'

The Phillies had a chance to get to .500 ball tonight. Only two games into the season and the Phils find themselves 0-2 at a chilly CBP in South Philly tonight.

Jamie Moyer didn't pitch the worst game as I think Brett Myers really didn't do all that bad against the Braves, but the Phillies offense is where there is little life.

Three's a charm they say, and tomorrow it's Game 3 and the ring ceremony. I think the Phillies will owe it to themselves to play much better in Game 3 after they get their rings. Speaking of the rings, they are under a strict code of silence. The players don't know what they look like, the press doesn't either so we have to wait to see how they look. No doubt they will be nice, but we'll have to wait till Wednesday to see it!
