In Game Post: Phils are thumping the Mets

Time to order the playoff tix? Well, maybe not just yet but the Phillies are having their way with the Mets tonight, taking them as I write this post in the Phils are whipping the Mets 9-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning.

The Phils have pounded out 17 hits as of the bottom of the 7th and are poised to go on and chalk up another victory. Chase Utley has welcomed back into the lineup tonight, and he of course was on fire going 3-5 as of the 7th inning and had a long center field homerun.


These are the kind of games I like to watch, give me more Phils, give me more!

This is a broadcast that I recorded 'in game' at the Phil's Citizens Bank Park at the Broadcast Dreams booth along with my friend Rick Nuzzolo from Sunday's game 8/26/2007. We got to do a little extra thanks to the the supervisor of the dreams booth. We called the 4th inning of the game and it came out really well because the Phillies were scoring great, we call Howard's slide at home - moving the earth in the process - and it was a lot of fun at the ball park on this great Sunday.

In Game: Phils look good ; 7 teams within 3.5 of Wild Card

This is an in game post on the Philly Sports Talk Now! blog: The Phillies are playing the Dodgers tough. The Fightins went behind early 3-0 in the second inning but stormed back to lead the Dodgers 5-3 as of the time of this post. The Phils can set themselves up nicely to stay in the hunt of the wild card or the Mets with a win here. They have to start playing every game like they want to win it all, because there are so many teams in the hunt of the wild card in the National League. It is a gridlock for the wild card spot, there are now 7 teams within 3.5 games of the wild card as of tonight in the National League.

It is a must that the Phils go at least 7-3 on this home stand. Less than this may spell the end for the race to the post season. The good thing is that the Mets are playing the San Diego Padres who are battling back and forth with the Phils for the wild card lead, Atlanta has found new life and is back up and tied with the Phils for the W C race going into tonight both 1 game back.

Show 53 - Philly Sports Talk Now! (Aug 15 2007)

This is show 53 and we dedicate the show to Phil Rizzuto who passed away at 89 years old on Monday evening. The Phillies are down taking on the Nationals in Washington. We look at the DL list for the Phils that is growing with each day. Adam Eaton is out of the rotation on the DL as of today as well. The Eagles looked a bit on the bleak side for the opening game of preseason. All this and more on show 53.

The Phillies take on the Nationals for the first of three games tonight Kyle Lohse goes for the Phils. He is 1-0 with a 6.14 era since joining the Phillies. The Phils are only 3 games out of first and are starting to make a run at the top spot that the Mets have held for quite a large part of the season. Former Mets GM Steve Phillips was on ESPN this morning saying that he didn't think the Mets were going to make the playoffs, we will see if Steve is a prophet or not within the next 7 weeks.

Next update from the Phillies on Chase Utley is due on August 20th, I think he'll be back by the end of August, maybe the first week of September.
